After the fall of Jerusalem in 1187 to the Muslim army of Saladin, the Carmelites escaped to England, led by St. Simon Stock.  He received the scapular from Our Lady, who promises that if it is worn faithfully, it will protect against the fires of Hell.  In this book, children learn:
